Google Wave Invites!

Greetings, fellow young librarians!

Andy Woodworth here and Google Wave has given me a bunch of invites for their preview. I’d like to share the wealth. I am giving away 10 individual invites on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis to the first ten replies of this post. There is only one criteria for an invitation: you must be a current MLS/MLIS student OR have been a librarian for less than five years. When you reply, please identify how you fit this criteria. Leah will see your email in the comment and then forward the list to me. Lately, the Google Wave invites have been going out within a day or two of submission, so there is a quick turnaround.

Bonus round giveaway:

If you are a MLS/MLIS student and you want to use Google Wave for a GROUP project, leave that tidbit along with the number of group members you have in your comment so I contact you directly and we’ll see what can be arranged.

Once you are on Google Wave, feel free to add me and Leah and start Waving! It’s in preview mode so have fun!

(Add “wawoodworth [the "at" symbol] googlewave [period] com” and “yolaleah [the at symbol] googlewave [dot] com” to your contact list.)

  1. i am a current MLIS student and trying google wave has been on my list of things to do for a very long time!

  2. Ooh! I like waving! Seriously, though. I have only been a librarian for 1 year and 2 months. And, from what I can tell, I think the possibilities for the young librarian series and google wave are awesome.

  3. I am a current MLIS student and I am pretty excited about Wave. I do want to try to use it with the group that’s planning our student symposium in the spring, which is about six people right now, but of course I’m willing to use up my own invites to do that. :)

  4. I’ve been an MLIS student for two months, and I’m personally appalled at Google for not rewarding my years of loyal sycophantia.

  5. I got my MSLIS from UIUC 3 years ago. Does it matter what email address gets the invite, as in, does it need to be a gmail account. So far behind the times, but wanting to catch up.

  6. I am a recent MLIS grad and I just got my first interview, so I’m super interested in finding out first-hand what it’s all about and hopefully find some new insights into web 2.0/social media.

  7. Hi Ellen – if you wanted to qualify for the invite you need to specify how you fit that qualifications. Thanks! :)

  8. I’ve sent out all the ones I’ve received from Leah. I don’t know when they will actually go out, but hopefully soon. It looks like the “see who else is online” feature is now live!
